Public tender for street nameplates launched amid last year’s controversy

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has reissued a public tender for the renovation of 1,642 street nameplates, emphasizing strict production requirements. Each glazed ceramic tile must measure 150 mm x 150 mm x 8 mm, produced in sets of eight using the glaze-in-color process, with all fonts printed. Bidders must submit at least one compliant tile sample. This marks the city’s first tender for its street nameplates since last year’s controversy over a contractor using stickers instead of traditional craftsmanship, which led to peeling signs. Quality standards also include consistent colors, clear patterns, and a smooth, defect-free glazed surface.
