Qingmao Port records 20 million crossings ahead of last year’s pace

The Qingmao Port recorded 20 million passenger crossings for the year as of 8 a.m. yesterday (July 9), reaching the milestone 15 days earlier than in 2025, according to the Public Security Police Force (PSP).

The port has recorded an average of 105,000 passenger movements per day so far this year, representing a 7.4% year-on-year increase and accounting for more than 15% of Macau’s total border crossings.

According to the PSP, Macau residents remain the largest user group, accounting for 54% of passenger flows, followed by non-resident workers.

The force also highlighted the implementation of facial recognition-based smart clearance services at Qingmao Port on June 26.

Since its launch, more than 180,000 people have registered for the service, with usage exceeding 2.42 million crossings. The figure represents around 55% of all passenger movements through the port’s joint inspection self-service channels.

The PSP expects Qingmao Port to experience increased two-way passenger flows during the summer holiday period, driven by Macau residents traveling north and mainland visitors arriving in the city.

Authorities said they have assessed expected traffic patterns in advance and will maintain close communication with mainland border inspection authorities, adding that additional clearance channels will be opened when necessary to manage crowds and maintain smooth border operations. LV
