Briefs | Seventh case of imported dengue fever

He was admitted to Kiang Wu hospital on Sunday. His fever has subsided and his condition has improved since then. None of his friends have so far presented symptoms consistent with dengue fever. SSM recalled that a dengue fever outbreak is still of great concern in Guangdong province, where 2,175 cases have been recorded.  The first dengue case in Macau this year was revealed early this month. An 82-year-old woman is believed to have contracted the disease near the Camões Garden, authorities said. Dengue fever is transmitted by different types of mosquitos.

Paulina Santos files appeal

Lawyer Paulina Santos says she has decided to file an appeal over the court’s decision to acquit former IACM chairman Raymond Tam, who, alongside three other employees, had been linked to an irregular granting process for cemetery graves. The complainant says the move is due to the inaction of the Public Prosecutions Office. In 2012 Paulina Santos was dismissed from the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and alleged she was being exposed to political persecution as a consequence of having brought to light the case of 10 permanent cemetery applications, which involved the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Florinda Chan. Ms Santos had previously been dismissed from her post as president of the administrative council of the Industrial Parks Development Co. Ltd (SDPIM).
