Group calls to upgrade yacht policy to boost marine tourism

A local maritime group has urged the government to enhance yacht travel policies and infrastructure to attract high-end visitors and support the marine economy. Macau Boat Owners Club secretary-general Lai Kin Keung said the current yacht free-travel scheme has seen limited uptake due to insufficient berthing facilities and support services. He suggested expanding marina capacity, adding immigration facilities, and improving training and licensing systems. Lai said yacht tourism could draw high-spending visitors and strengthen the local economy, especially if regional license recognition is explored.
