H5N1 avian influenza outbreak in UK prompts import restrictions

An outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza has been reported in Herefordshire, UK. In response, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has announced that it will not approve import applications for poultry meat from affected areas. The bureau has notified Macau’s importers and will closely monitor the situation to ensure strict control over poultry and poultry products entering the market.
